Grade 3 Common Core review: reading and math
Grade 3 is the year multiplication and division facts, fractions, and closer reading come together. Rounding & place value
Round to the nearest ten and hundred and add and subtract within 1,000 using place value.

Fractions
Understand a fraction as equal parts of a whole, place fractions on a number line, and compare them.
Area, perimeter & measurement
Find area by counting unit squares, find perimeter, and work with time, mass and volume.
Reading comprehension & inference
Ask and answer questions using evidence from the text and draw inferences about characters.
Story structure & central message
Recount stories and find the central message, and refer to chapters, scenes and stanzas.
Context clues & vocabulary
Work out the meaning of unfamiliar words and phrases from context, including nonliteral language.
Writing paragraphs
Write an opinion or informative paragraph with a topic sentence and supporting details.
