What is Year 8? Year 8 is the second year of secondary school in England, the middle year of Key Stage 3 (KS3). Pupils are usually 12 to 13 years old. As with Year 7, the National Curriculum's KS3 programme of study is one continuous specification for Years 7 to 9, so Year 8 content depends on how a school has sequenced it, typically building on Year 7's ratio, algebra and geometry foundations.

The KS3 programme of study covers Years 7-9 as one key stage, with 65 subject-content requirements across 6 areas. Check the exact DfE wording and see which requirements have worksheets, related teaching units, or a resource gap.
