What is Year 11? Year 11 is the second and final year of GCSE study in Key Stage 4 (KS4), just before pupils sit their GCSE exams. Pupils are usually 15 to 16 years old. As with Year 10, GCSE mathematics is one continuous specification covering both years (not split into a separate Year 10 and Year 11 syllabus), examined at Foundation (grades 1 to 5) or Higher (grades 4 to 9) tier, and Year 11 typically consolidates and extends Year 10's work with content such as boxplots, congruence and compound probability ahead of the final exams.
