What is Year 10? Year 10 is the first year of GCSE study in England and the start of Key Stage 4 (KS4), which runs from Year 10 to Year 11. Pupils are usually 14 to 15 years old. GCSE mathematics specifications (set within the DfE's 'GCSE mathematics: subject content and assessment objectives') are examined at two overlapping tiers, Foundation (grades 1 to 5) and Higher (grades 4 to 9); the content here is not split into separate Year 10/Year 11 sections the way Key Stages 1 and 2 are, so schools decide the exact order, but growth and decay, quadratics and trigonometry are typically where Year 10 begins.
