Vectors: Translations & Column Vectors
Describe the translation between two points in compact column-vector notation (dx, dy)ᵀ, or apply a given column vector to translate a point (or a whole shape).
- 1.Point P is at (-6, -8). Point P is translated to the image point P' at (-5, -7). Write the translation in compact column-vector notation (dx, dy)ᵀ.
- 2.Point P is at (-8, -1). Point P is translated to the image point P' at (1, -5). Write the translation in compact column-vector notation (dx, dy)ᵀ.
- 3.Point P is at (6, -5). Point P is translated to the image point P' at (7, -8). Write the translation in compact column-vector notation (dx, dy)ᵀ.
- 4.Point P is at (2, -1). Point P is translated to the image point P' at (-4, 8). Write the translation in compact column-vector notation (dx, dy)ᵀ.
- 5.Point P is at (-6, 0). Point P is translated to the image point P' at (3, 6). Write the translation in compact column-vector notation (dx, dy)ᵀ.
- 6.Point Q is at (-2, 4). Q is translated by the vector (-8, 0)ᵀ. Find the coordinates of the image point Q'.
- 7.Point Q is at (-1, -1). Q is translated by the vector (4, 3)ᵀ. Find the coordinates of the image point Q'.
- 8.Point Q is at (7, -8). Q is translated by the vector (4, 8)ᵀ. Find the coordinates of the image point Q'.
- 9.Point Q is at (7, -1). Q is translated by the vector (6, 3)ᵀ. Find the coordinates of the image point Q'.
- 10.Point Q is at (3, -7). Q is translated by the vector (-5, -4)ᵀ. Find the coordinates of the image point Q'.
- 11.A shape has vertices A(2, 5) and B(2, -3). The whole shape is translated by the vector (6, -5)ᵀ. Find the coordinates of A' and B'.
- 12.A shape has vertices A(-2, 1) and B(0, 2). The whole shape is translated by the vector (-3, 6)ᵀ. Find the coordinates of A' and B'.
- 13.A shape has vertices A(1, 3) and B(0, 3). The whole shape is translated by the vector (-3, -6)ᵀ. Find the coordinates of A' and B'.
- 14.A shape has vertices A(-1, 2) and B(2, -6). The whole shape is translated by the vector (-6, -1)ᵀ. Find the coordinates of A' and B'.
