December to January

Summer holiday maths revision booklets

The long Australian summer break runs from mid December to late January, and it is long enough for number facts to slip. These free booklets revise the maths from the year just finished in ten short days, then check readiness for the next year. They print on A4, use Australian year levels and the Australian Curriculum v9, and every answer is computed in code.

How each booklet works

  • Five mixed questions a day from the topics that year covers, rotated so each topic comes round several times.
  • One summer story problem a day: the beach, backyard cricket, the pool, a road trip.
  • A final page with one question on every topic, to spot anything worth a refresher before school starts.

Where the questions come from

The questions are built by the same procedural generators as the rest of the ChalkBee library, so the answers are calculated, not typed. Each topic is only included if it maps to a content description for that year in the Australian Curriculum v9, and the year page lists those codes.

Summer revision FAQ

What is a summer revision booklet?

A short printable booklet of the maths a child learned this year, to keep it fresh over the Australian summer holidays. Each booklet has 10 days of about ten minutes, two days to a page, and finishes with a one-page check of readiness for next year.

Which booklet should my child do?

The one for the year they have just finished. A child finishing Year 3 in December does the Year 3 booklet over the holidays, and its last page checks they are ready for Year 4.

Do I need to be a teacher to use it?

No. Every question is short and self-contained, the topic of each question is printed beside it, and the answer key (with working for the story problems) prints at the back.

Is it free?

Yes. Every booklet and its answer key is free to view, print or save as a PDF, with no login.
