Award ideas by year band

Every idea celebrates effort, growth or character, so you can give one to every student. The reason line is what makes an award meaningful: change it to name the exact thing you noticed.

Making awards count

  • Write the reason about something specific you saw, not a general compliment.
  • Balance learning awards and character awards across the class.
  • Keep a list as you go through Term 4 so no student gets a rushed, generic award.
  • Hand them out at a class celebration or the final assembly, and read each reason aloud.

End-of-year awards FAQ

Should every student get an award?

Most primary teachers give every student one, and the ideas here are written for that: each celebrates effort, growth or character rather than ranking students, so no award implies someone else came last.

How do I print certificates for the whole class?

Choose Whole class, paste your class list with one student per line, and add a comma and an award title after any name that needs a different award. Print gives one certificate per page, up to 40 at a time.

Are my students' names saved anywhere?

No. The certificate maker runs entirely in your browser. Names are not uploaded, stored or logged.

Is it free?

Yes. The award ideas and the certificate maker, including whole-class printing, are free with no sign-up.
