Story Elements
The four building blocks of every story character, setting, problem and solution, in a wheel students can point to while they read, plus a fill-in-the-blank version for retelling.
How to use this chart
- Read a short story aloud, then fill in the four spokes together as a class before students try it independently.
- Keep this poster next to any story-elements or retelling worksheet as a shared vocabulary reference.
- For a quick oral retell, have students touch each box on the wheel in order: character, setting, problem, solution.
