End-of-year maths tests, Years 1 to 6

A ready-made maths assessment for each primary year, written to the Australian Curriculum (v9). Each test has sections by strand with the AC9 code on every heading, marks beside each question, a Name, Date and Score header, three equally weighted versions, and a marking key computed in code. Print it as is or open it in the test builder to adjust it for your class.

When and how to use them

Semester two reports are usually written from late November, so an end-of-year check is best sat in the first half of Term 4. Give the test in one sitting, or split it into two shorter sessions by section. Record the marks by section: that shows which content descriptions a student has secured and which need another look, which is more useful for reports and for next year's teacher than a single total.

For the weeks before the test, the daily maths review revisits the same content descriptions a few questions at a time. For topic-by-topic practice, open any year hub from the Australian curriculum page.

Frequently asked questions

Are these official tests?

No. They are free classroom assessments written to the Australian Curriculum v9 content descriptions for each year. They are not NAPLAN papers or state department tests.

How are the answers checked?

Every question is generated by code that computes its own answer, and the marks are added up in code, so the marking key is never wrong.

Can I edit a test?

Yes. Each test opens in the test builder, where you can change the topics, the number of questions and the marks per section.
