What students learn
(+) Represent a system of linear equations as a single matrix equation in a vector variable, writing the coefficient matrix and augmented matrix of the system.
Worked example
Write the coefficient matrix for the system: 6x - 6y - 4z = -5; -2x - 6y - 2z = 8; -2x + 6y + z = -8
Answer: [6, -6, -4; -2, -6, -2; -2, 6, 1]
Why: Read each equation's coefficients of x, y, z straight into a row of the matrix. This 3×3 matrix A, with the variable vector [x; y; z] and constants [-5; 8; -8], gives the matrix equation A x = b.
Generated and checked in code, so it is correct.
