Narrative Planner: Story Mountain
Plan your narrative from opening to resolution. Jot ideas in each section, then draft your story from the plan.
- 1.Opening: hook your reader. Introduce your narrator, characters and setting.
- 2.Build-up: what events lead to the problem? List them in the order they happen.
- 3.Climax: the biggest moment. What happens, and how does your character feel?
- 4.Resolution: how does it end, and what has changed for your character?
- 5.Show, don't tell: note two sensory details or lines of dialogue you will use.
Check your plan
- My opening introduces the narrator, characters and setting
- Events follow a clear order with transition words
- I planned dialogue or sensory details to show feelings
- My ending follows from the events of the story
