Method Steps and Choosing Equipment
A class is testing which cup keeps hot water hottest. The steps below are out of order. Number them 1 to 8 so another student could follow the method and get the same results, then answer the equipment questions.
- 1.Number this step: Repeat the whole test three times for every cup
- 2.Number this step: Repeat with each of the other cups, using the same volume and starting temperature
- 3.Number this step: Write the question and a hypothesis about which cup will keep the water hottest
- 4.Number this step: Draw a line graph of temperature against time for each cup and write a conclusion
- 5.Number this step: Calculate the mean temperature after twenty minutes for each cup
- 6.Number this step: Measure 150 mL of hot water into the first cup using a measuring cylinder
- 7.Number this step: Place a thermometer in the water and record the starting temperature
- 8.Number this step: Start the stopwatch and record the temperature every two minutes for twenty minutes
- 9.Why should you read a measuring cylinder at eye level, at the bottom of the meniscus?
- 10.In which unit is length recorded in a school science report?
- 11.A stopwatch reads to 0.01 s and a wall clock to 1 s. Which gives the more precise measurement?
