CCSS HSS-ID.A.4 Worksheets
Grade 12 Β· Interpreting Categorical & Quantitative Data
Use the mean and standard deviation of a data set to fit it to a normal distribution and estimate population percentages, recognising the 68-95-99.7 rule for values within one, two, and three standard deviations of the mean.
Below are free printable worksheets that support HSS-ID.A.4. Print them as PDFs, or generate a fresh one. Every math answer key is computed in code, so it is never wrong.

What students learn
Use the mean and standard deviation of a data set to fit it to a normal distribution and estimate population percentages, recognising the 68-95-99.7 rule for values within one, two, and three standard deviations of the mean.
Worked example
A normal distribution has mean 14 and standard deviation 7. Find the interval within 2 standard deviation(s) of the mean.
Answer: 0 to 28
Why: mean +/- 2 x sd = 14 +/- 2 x 7 = 14 +/- 14, i.e. 0 to 28
Generated and checked in code, so it is correct.
