What students learn

Write a function that describes a relationship between two quantities, determining an explicit expression or steps for calculation from a context.

Worked example
A table shows f(0) = 2 and f(1) = 4, growing by a constant factor each step. Write the exponential function f(x) = a·bxb^{x}, then find f(3).
Answer: f(x) = 2·2x2^{x}; f(3) = 16
Why: a = f(0) = 2. b = f(1)/f(0) = 42 = 2. f(3) = 2 x 232^{3} = 2 x 8 = 16.

Generated and checked in code, so it is correct.
