What is a digraph?
A digraph is a pair of letters that spell a single sound. In 'ship', the letters s and h make one sound, 'sh'. Other common digraphs are ch, th, ck and ee. A digraph can be two consonants or two vowels.
Examples
- sh in ship.
- ch in chair.
- ee in tree.
Quick facts
