What is an adjective?
An adjective is a describing word that tells you more about a noun, such as its size, colour, number or how it feels. In 'the tall tree', tall is an adjective describing tree.
Examples
- Colour: a red apple.
- Size: a big dog.
- Feeling: a happy child.
Quick facts
- Adjectives usually come just before the noun they describe.
- Two adjectives in a list are often separated by a comma: a cold, dark night.
